I think we have seen something similar before from Japan, but here is something that is locally produced.
Researchers at the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology have created a system which alerts caregivers that their patient’s diapers need to be changed. It alerts of such them via SMS.
The key difference between the Japanese version and Singapore’s one is that the former is disposable while the latter is to be reused. I think reusing is better, for less waste is created. But the downside is that due consideration must be taken so that the sensor remains sterile.
